Lora Dudek, MA
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (Illinois)
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (Indiana)
I believe every person who walks through my virtual door is capable of far more than anxiety or OCD has led them to believe.
My goal is to help you build confidence in yourself, reconnect with what matters most to you, and create a life guided by your values instead of fear. Recovery is about developing the skills to respond differently to anxiety, so it has less power over how you live your life.
I've seen recovery from both sides of the therapy room, as a therapist and as someone who has experienced recovery from OCD myself. It has given me a deep appreciation for how frightening and convincing OCD can feel, but also an unwavering belief that recovery is possible. That perspective shapes the way I show up for my clients every day.
I strive to create a therapy space where people feel understood, challenged, and genuinely supported. Change can feel uncomfortable, especially when anxiety has been calling the shots for a long time. We'll work together at a pace that feels manageable, helping you gradually build confidence in responding to anxiety differently. My role is to help you do that with warmth, compassion, and encouragement, using treatment approaches that research has shown to be effective. And yes, there’s room for humor, too. Sometimes being able to laugh with our brains is part of learning not to take everything they tell us quite so seriously.
I specialize in working with adolescents and adults with OCD and anxiety disorders, including emetophobia and other specific phobias, panic disorder, health anxiety, social anxiety, and generalized anxiety. I also use SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) to help parents learn practical, supportive ways to respond to their child’s anxiety while reducing patterns that can unintentionally reinforce it. I offer SPACE both as part of an adolescent’s treatment and as parent-only work.
My work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and self-compassion to help you build confidence in yourself and respond to anxiety in new ways. Over time, my hope is that you begin to trust yourself more than you trust what anxiety is telling you.
Whether you're just beginning to wonder if therapy might help or you've been struggling with OCD or anxiety for years, I want you to know that recovery is possible. You don't have to wait until you feel ready to begin. We'll take it one step at a time, and I'd be honored to walk alongside you.
Professional Background
Lora earned her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, with distinction, from North Park University. She completed specialized clinical training in OCD and anxiety treatment at Rogers Behavioral Health and has worked with children, adolescents, and adults with OCD and anxiety disorders across outpatient, Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) levels of care. As a Family Therapist within a PHP program for children and adolescents, Lora also worked closely with parents and caregivers to support treatment goals, strengthen their understanding of OCD and anxiety, and help families carry therapeutic strategies into daily life at home. This experience continues to inform her understanding of the important role families can play in supporting meaningful, lasting change.
In addition to her graduate training, Lora is a Certified Mindfulness Instructor and integrates mindfulness and self-compassion into her treatment approach. She believes these practices are especially important in recovery, helping clients create space between themselves and their thoughts while learning to meet difficult moments with greater kindness rather than judgment.
Lora is an active member of the International OCD Foundation and has been honored to present at the IOCDF Annual Conference. She remains committed to ongoing professional development and consultation because she believes effective therapy requires both experience and a commitment to lifelong learning. Her goal is to ensure her clinical work continues to reflect current evidence and best practices in OCD and anxiety treatment.
